Santa Express
Santa has been riding the rails between Tuckahoe and Richland aboard vintage railcars owned by Cape May Seashore Lines.
 
CAPE MAY SEASHORE LINES has been escorting Santa on the rails of South Jersey the past few weeks. Catch a ride with Santa aboard vintage passenger cars that used to ply the same rails, hauling visitors to and from the Jersey Shore on a daily basis years ago. Santa Express trains depart from nearby Tuckahoe and Richland Stations through December 23rd, with an additional Winter Express on Saturday, December 29th (minus Santa, who will be back at the North Pole by then.) Adult fares begin at $18 with child fares beginning at $12.

THE SAILBOAT that was stranded on Sea Isle's beach for four days has been pulled off the beach, and was towed to a marina in Longport for repairs. The captain of the sailboat, who lives aboard the boat, was enroute to Key West to spend the winter before running aground last weekend.  After repairs are made he intends to complete his journey to Florida.

Sailboat - Sea Isle City
A sailboat washed ashore in Sea Isle City this past weekend. The Sea Isle City water tower and the Spinnaker Condominiums are visible in the background.
 
STRANDED SAILBOAT: A sailboat became stranded on Sea Isle City's 61st Street beach this past weekend. Reports indicate the boat was enroute from Connecticut to Florida when the captain anchored offshore; when the anchor failed, the boat later washed ashore. The boat is expected to be removed from the beach in the next several days. Check Out Aerial Footage Of The Boat On YouTube
 
A LARGE FIRE destroyed a duplex and severely damaged two others at 54th Street & Landis Avenue in Sea Isle last week, and claimed the life of an 89-year-old woman, while injuring two others. Fire crews from Sea Isle City, Strathmere, Ocean City, Seaville, Belleplain, and Avalon battled the fire. The Sea Isle Police Department gratefully acknowledged the neighbors and the Sea Isle community in general for providing food and drink for first responders during the 24-hour operation. The Sea Isle community has also rallied around the families struck by the tragedy by donating food, shelter, clothing, and financial assistance.
 
HONORING GEORGE H. W. BUSH: As the nation mourned the passing of President George H. W. Bush, U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May honored him with canon fire and the U.S. flag flown at half-mast. Captain Owen Gibbons, commanding officer of TraCen Cape May, said "U.S. Coast Guard Training Center Cape May sends our heartfelt condolences to the Bush family."
 
PROSPECTIVE AVALON LIFEGUARDS and beach tag checkers, it's time to start thinking about the 2019 season! The Avalon Beach Patrol will hold its annual lifeguard test on June 1 , 2019. STONE HARBOR'S NEW POLICE BUILDING is ready and the department began to transition into the new space this week. The second phase of the project is scheduled to begin December 17th.
